Hearing the line “I love you” can be music to our ears but seeing this nicely written on a piece of paper leaves a lasting feeling. Valentine’s Day is one of the most celebrated occasions throughout the world. This is a special day when one expresses his/her love through unique gifts, tokens or personalized Valentines card. This card is normally crafted through the amazing combination of one’s creativity and feelings.

There are several ways to express yourself in a personalized valentines card. You can have a significant photo (of you and your partner or a memorable place you’ve gone to) printed on the outer part of the card. Personal message or terms of endearment can also be printed according to your own specifications. You can also write a poem or have the lyrics of the recipient’s favorite song printed inside the card.

Make your first Valentine’s Days as a couple extra special. Don’t prepare just one, but plan for many Valentines Day gifts for your sweetheart. She will be thrilled to be lavished with several thoughtful presents from you.

Some good ideas:~A dozen roses delivered to her doorstep early in the morning ~A gift basket filled with spa products left at her office table at lunchtime ~A romantic dinner at a restaurant she has always wanted to go to ~A moonlit drive along the beach after your meal ~A simple piece of jewelry to cap the evening off

romantic gifts

Marriage and children changes couples. I remember when my husband and I first started dating. He would shower me with romantic gifts. We would exchange sappy romantic cards that we’ve kept all these years. His first gift to me was a watch for Christmas. Later on he would give me a bracelet and much later on a necklace.

I consider my engagement ring, the most romantic gift he has ever given me. After the wedding, the realization of expenses, bills and mortgage began to set in. My husband and I became more practical and we had to say goodbye to our romantic gifts. We instead found cheaper yet still romantic gifts like a rose every now and then instead of a whole bouquet and a bar of my favorite chocolate instead of a basket of chocolates. Though I still do hope someday to receive a car as a romantic gift.

Spoil your sweetheart for the whole duration of Valentine’s Day. Make this your day to propose marriage. Plan some glorious surprises that will leave her breathless even before the gifts stopped coming.

Some great ideas: ~Have a big bouquet of flowers delivered at her doorstep early in the morning. ~Order two Valentines Day gift baskets for her. One to arrive before lunch and another to be delivered in the afternoon.~Take her out to a romantic dinner after office hours.~Drive around and park at a romantic spot.~Under the moonlight, present her with the engagement ring and ask for her hand in marriage.

This Valentine, say “Be Mine” in a more creative way. Aside from the usual flowers, surprise the special lady in your life with one of adorable Valentine gift baskets she will appreciate receiving. These baskets carry sweets for your sweet and are decorated with many cute accessories.

Arrange for the basket to be delivered in the middle of the day and enclose a note promising her more surprises when you see her that night. Plan for a romantic date later. Take her out dancing or bring her to one of her favorite restaurants. You can also take a moonlit drive along the beach or simply snuggle in the couch and watch a good movie together.

Valentines rose bouquet

It is that time of year again when flowers are delivered in big bunches to flower shops. Valentine’s Day is drawing near and the price of Valentines rose bouquet is starting to rise. On Valentine’s Day itself flowers of the imported kind will be affordable only to the rich. Lesser mortals will have to contend with local orchids and homegrown roses. It has been this way for years and I don’t think it will change in the future.

It is fun to browse though bouquet arrangements in a flower shop. An arrangement of 12 long stemmed red roses with a cute and cuddly teddy bear. Another arrangement presents a cute teddy bear hugging 12 roses arranged in a glass vase. My favorite is a truly special arrangement of mums and lillies. It looks so pure and clean like the love that it symbolizes.

Now That V-Day Has Passed

African VioletsWe know what the best selling gifts were this year.  Even though it’s gone it’ll be back again, only this time you’ll be armed with the information you need to really wow your girlfriend, boyfriend, husband or wife.  The best selling stuff still seems to be living plants and flowers, specifically African Violets.  Unsurprisingly chocolate also remains a top seller coming in at #2 in 2008.

As we move down the list we’ll see candles, gift certificates and even lingerie.  These last three may all seem like good ideas, but the fact remains they’re the easy way out.  Don’t get caught giving thoughtless Valentine’s gifts in the form of a gift certificate because “you didn’t know what they would want.”  Candles are OK but gift certificates and lingerie are big no-nos.  Not all women will appreciate lingerie and those who do may think you got it for your own enjoyment and not hers.  Tread carefully!

Go Green on the Day of Red

Red hearts filled with chocolate, cellophane and cardboard everywhere, cheap plastic trinkets and disposable tokens of love fill the aisles this Valentine’s day. If you are looking for a way to go green this holiday I can offer a few great gift ideas.

First of all the gift of time is great. If you must wrap something to go along with it find a token of appreciation that is sure to be used for years to come instead of end up in the dumpster next weekend.
