The wedding itself is a symbol of how a man and a woman becomes one. So many items are used for significant symbolisms and one of them is the unity candles. The ceremony usually involves two taper candles and one large pillar candle. This symbolizes the unity of two families as well as the unity of the bride and the groom’s burning love for each other. White is the most common color of unity candles as it signifies purity in love.

Unity candles are usually accented with ribbons or bows. Some are even personalized wherein photo of the couple is printed on it or their initials engraved or embossed on it. Other kinds of unity candles include:~Dripless Unity Candles – made of wax that are dripless and smokeless~Oil Unity Candles – oil is housed in candle-shaped glass. Can be lit on anniversaries~Sand Unity Candles – instead of mixing flames, sand from bride and groom is poured into the pillar container
